Mark lives and longs for the manifestation of the glorious presence of the Son of God, revealing His power and purpose through His chosen people. He believes in the power of urgent and sincere prayer. He anticipates the day that the Church finds true unity across racial, ethnic and class diversity.

Mark and his wife Leah currently live in the Bronzeville neighborhood with their son, Eliam, and daughter, Elysia. He is a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute and has much love for all Chicago sports teams (including the White Sox). He presently serves as preaching elder.

"I (Christ) am the Vine. You (Church) are the branches. He that abides in Me, and I in Him, the same shall bring forth much fruit. But without Me, you can do nothing" - John 15:5

Pastor Mark Lockett came to know Jesus Christ personally in November 2002. Although he was introduced to God's Word as a child, he turned from Jesus and pursued a secular life. At age 27 he was saved by God's grace and chose to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

Two years later he enrolled at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in Pastoral Studies. Mark began attending SLCC and completed a pastoral internship at the church while he was a student at Moody. In September of 2012 he was called to serve as the Preaching Elder, a role he continues to fulfill today.

Along with preaching, Pastor Mark commits himself to mentoring and developing future spiritual leaders of the church. His passion is equipping believers to be effective witnesses of Jesus Christ in their communities.
